Jonathan Swift (1667–1745) was an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, and political
pamphleteer. He is best known for his satirical works, including “Gulliver’s Travels,”
“A Modest Proposal,” and “The Tale of a Tub.” Swift’s works often critique society and
human nature with sharp wit.
